Johnny Depp Article 11
Is he a Cry-baby?

Taken from a local magazine

Crybaby.

Last time we promised you an article about Johnny Depp's feature film Crybaby, and now, we're bringing it to you. This article not only tells you about the said flick but also answers the rumors of his leaving 21 Jump Street. Well. we know you're dying to find out the inside story about this issue so here it goes.

Crybaby us a campy love story set back in the 50's and played out gainst a rock n' roll beat. It's about the rich kids, or "squares", against the poor kids called "drapes". If you're a square, you come from "the right side of town", the boys dress in grey pants, button - down shirts and sport crew cuts. The girls wear pony tails, full skirts and very little make-up. Squares are respectful, conventional and boring.

Drapes, on the other hand, come from the 'wrong' side of the tracks, wear motorcycle jackets, tight pants, and have long pampadoured hair. Girl drapes wear tight fitting sexy outfits to school. Squares only date "Squarettes", Drapes go with "Drapettes." Never the two mix - if they did, 'war' would break out.

Johnny plays Crybaby, the leader of the Drapes. He lives with his very hip grandparents plus his sister, and her kids. He's tough and wild on the outside, sweet and loving on the inside.

Cybaby's a rocker - a talented one whose music is fresh, new and unlike anything they're playing on the tame tired airwaves.

A solitary lonely teardrop rolls down his cheek when he's sad: the Crybaby trademark.

Allison Vernon-William is the perfect Squarette - she can't help it, she was born that way. but when she and Crybaby lock eyes, they fall helplessly hopelessly in love.

And so the dye is cast. Will Allison defy her birthright to go with Crybaby? Will Crybaby stun his followers by falling in with Allison? And who will win the 'battle of the bands', the Sqares o Crybaby's Drapes?

Crybaby the movie, is in some ways a lot like others you may have seen - West Side Story, even Romeo and Juliet - but mostly it's completely unlike anything you've ever experienced before. It's gonna move you, that's for sure - with Johnny in it, how could it not?

So there goes the movie, and now about the 'other' rumor...

Crybaby's filming in Baltimore and might be ready for your eyes this year. But as you all know, Johnny took off from Jump Street to star in it - which naturally lead to rumors that he's quitting the show. But you see they're not true. Johnny's publicist flatly denied the rumor and said, "he's got three years to go and wouldn't leave before that." So rest easy, Jump Street fans - your favorite undercover cutie remains in the beat as Tom Hanson and soon on the big screen as the rock n' rollin' hero Crybaby.
